Gyula Siska

Accomplished artist Gyula Siska ("Sheesh-Kah") was born in Hungary in 1958. Having finished the Higher School for the Arts, he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Budapest. Siska continued to work in painting and the process of restoring. As a result of his work, he subsequently was employed as a restorer for five years and became an expert at restoration of old photos.

Meanwhile, Siska developed his artistic education by intensive study of the classic technique of painting. He was highly influenced by the masters of the 17th and 18th Century, especially 17th Century master Jan Davidsz de Heem (1606-1683). His photographic backround and developed eye for detail is evident in his style. He began to be known for his still lifes, particularly his traditional flower compositions.
Siska's paintings have been exhibited in Hungary since 1985, and are now all over the world. When the Pope visited Budapest, Siska created an extraordinary work of art together with a sculptor. They made a circular copy of the famous Shroud of Turin in a mixed media technique of bronze casting and photography.
Private collectors in Europe and America continue to acquire the beautiful artwork of Siska.
